Children and youth at Emmaus are treasured members of our church family. Emmaus seeks to grow our young covenant members into mature disciples of Jesus Christ through teaching, service, and fellowship.

Train up a child in the way he should go;
    even when he is old he will not depart from it."
 (Proverbs 22:6)

Sunday School for Children & Youth

Children and youth break up into age-specific classes from 2 years old to high school.

Children ages 2 years old to 2nd Grade begin Sunday School together, learning catechism questions and answers. Catechism instruction summarizes essential truths of the Christian faith in question-and-answer form. At Emmaus Road Reformed Church, we start teaching these to our youngest members by using First Catechism - Teaching Children Bible Truth and Songs of Saplings music.

Catechism Class (Grades 6-8)

We teach historic, Protestant confessions of the faith to our children during our Catechism (primarily using the Heidelberg Catechism), so that they may know what they believe and why they believe it.

Catechesis Class is for children in 6th to 8th Grades. Our prayer is that the Holy Spirit will open the eyes of our children to help them believe the promises of the gospel of Jesus (John 3:3-8, Romans 8:1).

“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
the fruit of the womb a reward.”
 (Psalm 127:3)

Youth Group (Grades 9-12)

Our Youth Group meets together for Sunday School on Sundays and Youth Group on Wednesday nights.

The Youth Group enjoys times of fellowship together doing things like game nights and mini golf. They also have opportunities to work together on service projects.

Emmaus Kids (Grades K-5)

Emmaus Kids meets on Wednesday nights as a part of our Family Night. The children enjoy games, music, a Bible lesson, and fellowship. For the Children's Youth Group we are using The Biggest Story curriculum.
