Sunday School for Children & Youth

Sundays at 9:30 AM | September–May

Children and youth break up into age-specific classes from 2 years old to high school. Our preschool class uses the Great Commission Publications curriculum. Our elementary classes learn from the Ligonier Ministries curriculum: Growing in God's Word.

Children ages 4 years old to 2nd grade begin Sunday School together, singing and learning catechism questions and answers. Catechism instruction summarizes essential truths of the Christian faith in question-and-answer form. At Emmaus Road, we start teaching these to our youngest members using the Children's Catechism (modified from First Catechism - Teaching Children Bible Truth) and Songs of Saplings music.

Catechism Class (Grades 7-8)

We teach historic, Protestant confessions of the faith to our youth during Catechism Class (primarily using the Heidelberg Catechism), so that they may know what they believe and why they believe it.

Catechesis Class is for youth in 7th to 8th grades. Our prayer is that the Holy Spirit will open the eyes of our children and youth to help them believe the promises of the gospel of Jesus (John 3:3-8, Romans 8:1).

Youth Group (Grades 7-12)

Wednesdays from 6:45–8:00 PM | September–May

Our Youth Group meets on Wednesday nights as part of our Family Night. On the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays, the youth gather for Bible study, games, and fellowship. On the 2nd Wednesday of the month, the youth join the adults at the beginning of the Prayer Meeting to sing together and hear a testimony from a church member. They then break off to have a prayer time together as a youth group.

The Youth Group also enjoys times of fellowship outside of regular meetings, such as game nights and mini golf. The youth also serve together through activities like raking leaves for elderly church members and packing meals at Feed My Starving Children.

Youth in 5th–12th grade attend Heidelberg Youth Camp in Manitowoc each summer along with youth from other churches in the Reformed Church in the United States.

Kids Youth Group (Grades K-6)

Wednesdays from 6:45–8:00 PM | September–May

Kids Youth Group meets on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Wednesday nights as a part of our Family Night. The children enjoy games, a Bible lesson, and fellowship. For the Kids Youth Group we are using The Biggest Story curriculum to help children see how the whole Bible tells the story of God’s plan of redemption.
