Meet Our Pastor & Leaders

Ryan Kron

Pastor

E-mail Ryan Kron

I grew up in a Christian home in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. I majored in Bible and Theology at Wheaton College, and then I spent two years studying under John Piper at The Bethlehem Institute in Minneapolis.

I received my Masters of Divinity degree at Westminster Seminary in California in 2006 where I studied under men such as W. Robert Godfrey and Michael Horton. From 2006 to 2010 I served as an Associate Pastor at Cloverdale United Reformed Church in Boise, Idaho (URCNA).

In November 2010, I moved back to the Twin Cities with my wife, Colleen, and our son to begin the process of planting a new church.  In March 2013 the Lord blessed us with a second son.  And in September 2015 God blessed us with a third son.  I am thankful to God for the privilege and joy to serve as the Pastor at Emmaus Road Reformed Church. My prayer is that God would use me to help build His church in the south metro of the Twin Cities to the glory of His Name.

I was raised in a Christian home in Eden Prairie. After graduating from Wheaton College with a degree in Business/Economics, I settled back in Minnesota to pursue a career as a financial planner.

My wife Krista and I have three young children, and we live in Eden Prairie. We are blessed to live near both our sets of parents and most of our extended families, so we are able to enjoy a lot of great family time here in the Twin Cities. Outside of working as a financial planner and serving at Emmaus, I take any chance I can to read, garden, do home projects, and stay active with family walks, working out, and playing sports.

I was first exposed to reformed theology through reading various books and blogs in my mid-20s. I was immediately captivated by the intellectual and spiritual rigor of reformed theology. Men like Sproul, Piper, MacArthur, DeYoung, and Challies have been instrumental in honing my faith. My wife and I became members at Emmaus Road Reformed Church late in 2015.

The flock at Emmaus welcomed us in with open arms. We have been consistently blown away by the fellowship and community at ERRC. We are in a body where the members genuinely care for and love one another; where church takes place not just on the Lord’s Day, but throughout the week.

I am married to Lisa and we have three children. My hometown is Bloomington and I grew up in what I refer to as Historic East Bloomington.

I was raised Lutheran, but have learned more about Martin Luther, his theology and the gospel from Presbyterian and Reformed pastors and theologians than I did in my home church growing up. I have been reading and listening to RC Sproul and the late James Montgomery Boice since the late 1980s.

I served in several roles in Bible Study Fellowship including Discussion Leader, Class Administrator, Substitute Teaching Leader and as a Children’s Leader.

My family and I started attending Emmaus Road in the late summer or early fall of 2014. I began serving as an Elder at Emmaus Road in 2017.

The Lord has incredibly blessed me and my family. Sharon and I have been married for 44 years, our 3 adult children and their spouses are all believers, and we enjoy 4 beautiful grandchildren.

I grew up in a Christian home, in the Lutheran Church. Shortly after our marriage I joined  1st Covenant Church of St. Paul, Sharon’s home church from birth,  where we were members for the next 30+ years. As a family we were very active there, raising our kids, participating in small group fellowship and studies, and serving in various leadership positions. Bible Study Fellowship was instrumental in our growing faith journey.

Our son Ryan and daughter Sarah both attended Wheaton College in Illinois, with Ryan majoring in Biblical and Theological Studies. When we visited them we would attend College Church in Wheaton where Pastor Kent Hughes was preaching.  Ryan was increasingly drawn to Calvinist teaching and the Holy Spirit was urging us to seek sound biblical preaching.  We started attending Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis in addition to our own church and appreciated the preaching of Pastor John Piper.  Meanwhile Ryan studied for 2 years at The Bethlehem Institute after graduating from Wheaton and then obtained his M.Div from Westminster Seminary in California.

God made it clear to us that we needed to leave 1st Covenant and with Ryan’s encouragement we joined Redeemer Reformed Church in Golden Valley, the sponsoring church for Emmaus Road.  Ryan had interned at Redeemer for two summers during his time at Westminster.  After a few years Redeemer called Ryan to come back to Minnesota and start a new church here in Eden Prairie.  We joyfully transferred to this new mission work at Emmaus Road Reformed Church.

I am humbled and honored to have served as a Deacon since 2016.  Sharon and I are profoundly grateful to the Lord to be part of this fellowship of believers, to hear the gospel faithfully proclaimed every Sunday, and to be shepherded by God-fearing Elders.

I grew up in a Christian home in rural Minnesota and attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, from where I have B.S. in computer science. I am grateful for the many ways that God has blessed me, and am thankful to be serving Him with the talents that He has given me; as an elder, husband, father, and software engineer.

I am a husband of more than 45 years, a father of two and a grandfather of six. I am also a retired businessman. Since my retirement, I have been actively engaged as a volunteer for charitable organizations, particularly, “Feed My Starving Children”.

I was raised in the Roman Catholic Church and was first exposed to protestant theology in a course on the Reformation at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire where I received a BA in history. I found the theology of John Calvin very persuasive, but, in Wisconsin where it seemed everyone was either Catholic or Lutheran, reformed churches were virtually impossible to find.

While Lynne and I are both natives of Wisconsin, we have lived in five states. It was in 1985, when we were living in Portland, Oregon that we discovered the Christian Reformed Church and we have been reformed since.

I have served as a deacon at Emmaus Road since 2016. In the past, I served as a deacon in the Christian Reformed Church.

The Lord has been gracious to give me a sincere faith that first dwelt in my parents. By His amazing grace, I have never known a day that I did not call Him Father and know that Jesus, the friend of sinners, was a friend to me. I met my wife, Linda, in college and the Lord has given us four children. We thank the the Lord every day for His grace that He has shown them in making them to walk with them as well.

Now for the vital statistics. I was born in St. Louis, MO, went to Wheaton College, got an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis and work in commercial real estate. I became convinced that Reformed theology best fit with the Bible and was a member of a PCA and an OPC church before joining Redeemer Reformed Church in Golden Valley. I became an elder there and was part of the church plant team that started Emmaus Road. I love worshiping with my Emmaus family and serving our wonderful Lord together.
